Atlanta Falcons Best Players in 2012: #9 Michael Turner

Listmania has been running a little wild around the NFL lately so I figured it was time for us to get into the action. We put our collective heads together and have come up with the top ten players on the Atlanta Falcons roster according to the Grits Blitz Blog. Number ten was Falcons OL Tyson Clabo. Number nine is someone that was a career back-up before he signed as a free agent with the Falcons in March of 2008.

Michael Turner rumbles past the Packers

In four years with the San Diego Chargers, Michael Turner ran for 1257 yards and 6 TD. In his first season with the Falcons, Turner 1699 and 17 TD. Since coming over to Atlanta, Turner has ran for 5281 yards and 50 TD in four years of regular season games. Turner has been a vital part of the Atlanta offense. With Dirk Koetter coming in as the Falcons new offensive coordinator, it’s yet to be seen just how focal Turner will be with the offense. Here is what the guys had to say about “The Burner”:

Eric: As he goes, so does the offense. His ability isn’t what it was in his first 3 years, but will still carry the load. I expect him to play less of a role as the offense works to be more effective in the face of top defenses.

Joe: Turner remains the Falcons’ best tailback in an organization that thrives on the power run game. Turner remains a legitimate threat to pound the football and average 100 yards per game. He has lost some overall distance speed and quickness but he can still break off 20-40 yard runs.

Mike: “The Burner” is still churning out 1300 yard+ seasons, I don’t expect the same production this season, but he is still a top 5 NFL running back.
