Basically, the coaches were impressed with what they’d seen from guards Garrett Reynolds, Peter Konz, Mike Johnson and tackle-guard Andrew Jackson and were also able to make a clear assessment of Manuwai, who played eight seasons in Jacksonville before sitting out last season.
An early camp casualty
Julio Jones continues to amaze at training camp. He’s a player that you should always keep an eye on. On Saturday, he made some of the prettiest catches in practice that I’ve seen him make, particularly one during 7-on-7s when he went up over Brent Grimes and seemed to hang in the air while the ball fell to him. With two hands on the ball, Jones pulled it down and scampered in for the TD. The crowd loved every second of the play.
Left Tackle: Sam Baker was the starting left tackle until Week 7 last season when he was benched for Will Svitek. Svitek played six games without giving up a sack and even held Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen sackless, which allowed Matt Ryan to finish the game with a passer rating of 128.2, his third-best total of the season of the season.
