Turner Not Ready for Drastic Cut in Carries

Falcons running back Michael Turner is fine with his carries being mildly reduced in 2012. But if there is a drastic cut from his average of 20.1 carries a game over the last four seasons to say, 10 carries a game, he’ll have a major objection with the new offense that’s being installed in training camp.

How many carries Turner will get is a big question mark

Can Peria Jerry Still Save His Career in Atlanta?

The reports on Jerry were all positive around this time last year as well. So I don’t put much stock in the fact that Jerry believes that he’s “turned a corner.” At this point, he’s going to have to prove it on the field and with Babineaux also expected to bounce back from injuries it’s unclear whether Jerry will even have a shot to make much of an impact in 2012. One would think that he would be the No. 3 tackle off the bench behind Babineaux and Peters, but Vance Walker recorded more snaps (389) than Jerry (369) last season so we can’t assume anything.

Falcons Sign RB Richard Medlin

Medlin, 5-11, 200 pounds was originally signed by the New England Patriots as a college free agent on August 3, 2011. He was signed to the Miami Dolphins practice squad in September and promoted to the active roster for the 2011 season finale.

Camp Confidential

I don’t know if they were veiled shots at Mularkey, VanGorder and former middle linebacker and defensive leader Curtis Lofton, but I think it was significant that Smith and Dimitroff repeatedly used the word “positive’’ when they talked about the coaching styles of Koetter and Nolan, and as they talked about the leadership qualities Samuel brings, and what kind of leader they expect Weatherspoon to become. “Sean is such a positive guy,’’ Smith said. “He is vocal, but he’s never negative in the way he speaks. He’s always very positive.’’  Samuel was described in the same way. So were Nolan and Koetter.
