The Friday Blitz: Jerryworld Comes to Town

The Friday Blitz this week will be short and to the point. I have some concerns and some thoughts on the upcoming game.

First, here are some of my concerns heading into the Dallas game. Sean Weatherspoon is expected to be inactive Sunday Night with an ankle injury. Do I think it is serious? No, but he is without a doubt our leader on defense. Lose your leader = bad things can happen.

Another concern is that of the desperate Tony Romo. Although, Mike Vick is the more notable quarterback on the hot seat, Tony Romo is coming off a 4 int performance. Yes, he led his team back, and gave them a shot, but he got them in that mess to begin with. I have said it before; I do not like playing teams with nothing to lose. Dallas is playing for their playoff viability, Atlanta isn’t. They have looked good at times this year, but at 3-4 they are not winning the close games. The bad news for Dallas, Atlanta and Matty Ice are playing this game at home. Sunday night is a chance to make a national statement.

Now that that is out of the way I want to talk about something positive. Matt Ryan is the leader in the clubhouse for NFL MVP. He is torching the opposition and this week has a chance to get some 1v1 looks on Morris Claiborne. I can see Atlanta going at this rookie all evening. One thing I want to see this week is more Quizz. He had a versatile role last week and made some nice plays in the run game, while catching the ball out of the backfield quite well. The Cowboys are depleted at running back and will be forced to put the ball in the air 40-50 times. The spread is -4, but that is simply because of Atlanta’s poor history when Vegas back them over a touchdown. Dallas is going to try to force Atlanta to run, and hopefully Turner and Quizz will be able to answer the bell.

I see this as a huge opportunity for the Falcons on a primetime stage to make a huge statement. It’s Dallas, SNF, and the pressure is purely on Jerry’s Cowboys. Atlanta needs to be careful, I believe that Atlanta will be hindered without #56, but Matt Ryan should control the game from the kickoff.

Prediction: Atlanta 33 Dallas 20

Stat bet:  Ryan throws 3td 298 yds. Julio will go over 100 yards 1 td. Tony G and Roddy each get into the end zone and Turner will rumble for 80 yds and 1 td.

As always, I look forward to your comments on Twitter @ColossalChicken. Rise Up!
