When Curtis Lofton was with the Falcons he was thought of as a stand-up guy. As a team guy. Apparently, the Falcons did a great job covering up the fact that he's just a guy with his head up his ass.
It's no secret that Lofton wanted to stay with Atlanta last season but wasn't brought back as the Falcons wanted to go in a different direction with their defense and felt that the money that he would have demanded would be better spent in other areas.
Lofton was bitter about the break and he let it be known shortly after he signed with the Saints. Lofton made it a point to talk about how excited he was to play in front of "true fans" and to play for a "Super Bowl contender".
Now, Lofton is at it again. His latest masterpiece? He says that the Falcons/Saints "rivalry" is not a rivalry at all from a Saints perspective. He is right in one sense in that the Saints have had a decided advantage as of late. But that doesn't mean it isn't a rivalry. Georgia/Florida is still a rivalry despite Florida controlling the series in the last decade. If the Falcons aren't a rival of New Orleans then who is? The Bucs? The Panthers? That's what I thought. The Saints, or at least Lofton, basically think they have no rivals and no peers. Seems pretty rich for a 5-6 team.
