Atlanta Falcons Draft: Day Three Preview

With two days and three rounds of the NFL Draft completed, the Falcons have added two cornerbacks to their squad. I thought the Falcons might trade back up into the third round but they sat still and now prepare for day three with seven picks tomorrow. We have pick #127 (4th round), #133 (4th), #163 (5th), #236 (7th), #243 (7th), #244 (7th) and #249 (7th).

The Falcons have the 30th pick of the 4th round so there will be 29 players who find homes before the Falcons choose their next player unless they choose to trade up. At this point, I can't see the Falcons parting ways with any of their next three picks so I expect them to sit still and wait and see who falls to them at #127 and #133.

The biggest needs the Falcons have are DE and LB but I could also see the Falcons going TE, DT or even OL if the right player is there. Here are some players who are still on the board that the Falcons could look at adding tomorrow….

Defensive Ends

– Cornelius Washington, DE, Georgia

– Alex Okafor, DE, Texas

– William Gholston, DE, Michigan State

Devin Taylor, DE, South Carolina

Quanterus Smith, DE, WKU

John Simon, DE, Ohio State

Michael Buchanan, DE, Illinois

– Khaseem Greene, LB Rutgers

– Brandon Jenkins, DE/LB, FSU

– Chase Thomas, LB, Stanford

– Nico Johnson, LB, Alabama

– Jelani Jenkins, LB, Florida

Sean Porter, LB, Texas A&M

DeVonte Holloman, LB, South Carolina

Kenny Tate, LB, Maryland

Some other interesting names still available:

– Jesse Williams, DT, Alabama

Joseph Randle, RB, Oklahoma State

Andre Ellington, RB, Clemson

Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina

– Jawan Jamison, RB, Rutgers

– Mike Gillislee, RB, Florida

Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech

Cobi Hamilton, WR, Arkansas

– Philip Lutzenkirchen, TE, Auburn

– Michael Williams, TE, Alabama

Levine Toilolo, TE, Stanford

Mychal Rivera, TE, Tennessee

If we could get one player from the DE group and one player from the LB group in the fourth round then we can start drafting best available for the fifth round and hope we hit on somebody with one of our four seventh round picks.
