Injured Falcons: Steven Jackson Out 2-4 Weeks, Spoon Out Months

If you missed recent reports, every Falcon is injured and won't play for weeks or even months, if at all this season. The season is far from over! Seems that some fans believe we will be fighting with the Jaguars for the first overall pick this year but Atlanta has some very nice talent that should step up. It has gotten pretty confusing to remember who is out for the year, the week or who is completely healthy (no one).

We have our big offseason free agent acquisition up first.

That is very bad. Jacquizz Rodgers seems incapable of getting anything past contact. Jason Snelling looked very good and is certain to get more reps, but remember yesterday our fullback is gone.

All of this, along with a shaky offensive line and injured Roddy White are pretty concerning for the offense. Kroy Biermann, a guy who has become so versatile in this Mike Nolan defense, simply cannot be replaced. Massaquoi looked very nice rushing the passer after Kroy left, and Joplo Bartu looked great in covering the tightend instead of Kroy, but we will look more predictable without our defensive ironman.

Another young part of our defensive nucleus is gone with Sean Weatherspoon out at least 8 weeks.

A lisfranc injury is very serious and Weatherspoon may be hobbled when he returns, if he returns. If there is a silver lining, Paul Worrilow was a favorite of many people in preseason and he will get a chance to make those impact plays in the regular season.

Atlanta has freed up a couple of roster spots and will need to sign at least another fullback and linebacker, and likely a defensive end or a runningback. My hope is for bringing in former Bengal and Jet fullback John Conner, a guy who can really open up a hole in a weak offensive line. Willis McGahee may a good short term rental as well. I would not be surprised to see Atlanta bring back Pat Schiller.
