Matt Ryan leads Falcons past Bucs 31-23

The Falcons moved to 2-4 on Sunday with a 31-23 victory over the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Playing without Julio Jones and Roddy White, Matt Ryan stepped up his game with a very efficient performance. Ryan went 20 of 26 for 273 yards and 3 TDs with 0 INT.

The defense did it's part early by scoring on a Thomas DeCoud fumble return and the Falcons held on late despite being outscored in the second half by the Bucs.

Harry Douglas had a great game as did Jacquizz Rodgers. Despite not being able to get a running game started, the Falcons had 18 yards rushing on the day, they targeted Rodgers often out of the backfield. Quizz finished the game with a team leading 8 receptions and 2 TD catches.

The Falcons defense spent the majority of the second half on the field as the Bucs dominated the time of possession (37:49 to 22:11) but they did a good job of not breaking in the red zone holding the Bucs to just one TD in four red zone attempts.

The Falcons now look forward to a critical two-game road trip that will decide if they can compete for a wildcard spot. The first stop for the Falcons, who are 0-2 on the road this season, is Arizona to face off with the 3-4 Cardinals, who have lost two straight games.
